Spenard Jazz Festival

Momentum Dance Collective has had the pleasure to work alongside Yngvil Van Guttu, Director of the Spenard Jazz Festival since 2011.  SJF is an annual festival for jazz music and related art forms in Anchorage . Started in 2008 as  a 1-night showcase for local jazz composers, the festival now presents a full month of art, dance, film, improv, poetry, music and community activity/workshop program. More than 200 original compositions have been "commissioned" and performed at JazzFest, and the festival has broad local support from the artist and business communities. Momentum continues to work with local jazz composers and local dancers in both theatre and site specific performances during the festival.
