Maia Draper-Reich
Maia Draper-Reich joined Momentum Dance Collective in 2019. Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, she trained at the Preparatory Dance division of the Peabody Conservatory for 15 years. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Connecticut College in 2016 with a B.A. in Biological Sciences and Dance, earning Honors in Dance. During her time at Connecticut College, she choreographed her own dance works and danced in choreography by students and Kyle Abraham, Ronald K. Brown, Wendell Cooper, David Dorfman, Faye Driscoll, Rennie Harris, Heidi Henderson, Shawn Hove, Molly Lieber and Eleanor Smith, Lisa Race, and Doug Varone. She was awarded the Jose Limon Award in 2015 for outstanding ability and artistry in dance and the Joan Connell Memorial award in 2016 for outstanding accomplishments and dedication to the field of dance.
Prior to moving to Alaska, Maia performed professionally for Carol Bartlett in Baltimore, Maryland, Shawn Hove in Lewiston, Maine, and Ayano Elson in New York, New York.
In Anchorage, Maia has been a resident artist for Pulse Dance Company’s BLOOM and Freshly Squeezed. Maia teaches dance and movement improvisation classes. Since joining Momentum, she has performed in and choreographed for Sugar and Salt, f(light), Uncovered, It’s a Party, Compact, Rhapsody, and more. She recently directed a music video “Look Into the Sky” for Let Every Woman Know–Alaska’s Any Mountain Project and co-choreographed and performed in the music video for “Inside Yourself” by Photonak. She delights in the creative community Momentum fosters where she can create, collaborate, learn, teach, and expand as an artist.
